We feel so unbelievably honoured to be stocking copies of this amazing book written by our dear friend and partner Vava Angwenyi and published by Leeds based printers Pressision.

Vava has been working on this project for a long time and it is just amazing to see it come to life. We really believe this is one of the most important developments and resources to have happened within the coffee industry for a long long time. The focus placed on issues of diversity, inclusion and equality last year has really highlighted the historical and ongoing inequality within our beloved coffee industry. The impacts of its colonial beginnings are still being felt today. This beautiful photographical piece of work is thought provoking and powerful. It is a book that everyone should own and is not just for those in the coffee industry (though it should absolutely be on the reading list of those who are), it is for anybody interested in the world and its global community. It celebrates women, empowerment, resilience and beauty.

And as a representative of many women and men that my organisations have worked with, I felt that it was time for this piece of work – to put out a visual story of my perception of empowered women in this setting, the communities that I work in, and the neocolonialist notions that exist in this industry as well as the colonial structures that still exist in this sector.”

Local pickups take place from the Roastery on Tong Road. Please note our shutter doors will be down for security and temperature reasons but we are always in Monday-Friday between 9 and 5pm – just ring the doorbell on arrival
