Czar St. Seasonal Blend V.27

Czar St (za) is our seasonal blend here at North Star. It is named after a street in Leeds where we went to view a unit when first setting up the business! Whilst the unit wasn’t quite right, we loved the name of the street as it sounded perfect for a blend that is not anchored to the same components year round.

This Coffee's Story

Czar St (za) is our seasonal blend here at North Star - named after a street in Leeds we went to view a unit on when we first set the business up! Whilst the unit wasn’t quite right, we loved the name of the street which sounded perfect for a blend that is not anchored to the same components year round - instead showcasing the best coffees from the most recent harvests across the Tropics.

V.27 is built upon the solid base of Donald Efrain Roque’s sweet and syrupy washed lot from his family farm in the Dipilito mountain range of northern Nicaragua. To that we have added a hit of brightness and complexity in the form of a buttery washed Rwandan lot named Gito - a blend of tiny, high quality beans from washing stations across Nyamasheke District. And to finish it all off we have added a fruit-forward and funky natural from long-standing Guatemalan based producing partner, Renardo Vides.

The resulting cup is sweet and complex, making this the perfect choice if you are after a more contemporary espresso. We find notes of tart citrus fruit, dried cherry and toffee when served black. In milk, you can expect rich lemon and vanilla buttercream on the palate. This is a coffee that is at its best when served via metal filter methods such as espresso (18g coffee to make 38g espresso in 28-30 seconds), stove top or french press.
