More Info

This tea is fairly unique and comes from a province in China called Guangxi which possesses the perfect conditions for tea production. The climate is also greatly suited to jasmine which grows here in abundance. The two have therefore been rolled together into hand crafted spheres that are thought to resemble phoenix eyes. It is during the drying period that the jasmine is layered onto the freshly picked green tea, imparting an intense aroma and massively contributing to the overall complexity of this tea.

The process is repeated, sometimes up to five times, until the perfect balance of flavour has been achieved. This tea can truly be enjoyed at any time of the day, we find it a real treat mid afternoon to steal 5 minutes of calm amidst a busy day!
‘Oolong’ means ‘black dragon’ in Chinese and the tea is referred to as this due to the fact that it is neither black or green in colour. The tea undergoes a partial oxidation before being rolled and twisted.

Shiny, tightly rolled pellets are a sign of good quality Gunpowder tea, indicating that the tea is relatively fresh.
