Storm Handcrafted – Jade Formosa Oolong (100g)

This tea takes it’s name from Taiwan which is a small island in the pacific and was previously known as Formosa. Previously production focused around green teas for export to North Africa. As competition from Japan and China started to grow, tea production in Taiwan switched to the semi fermented Wulung (Oolong) that were popular with the local population of the island. The shift in focus to producing Oolong tea also meant there was a much bigger focus on quality rather than quality and it was for that reason that Taiwan become known for producing some of the best Oolong tea in the world.

‘Oolong’ means ‘black dragon’ in Chinese and the tea is referred to as this due to the fact that it is neither black or green in colour. The tea undergoes a partial oxidation before being rolled and twisted.


Shiny, tightly rolled pellets are a sign of good quality Gunpowder tea, indicating that the tea is relatively fresh.

Local pickups take place from the Roastery on Tong Road. Please note our shutter doors will be down for security and temperature reasons but we are always in Monday-Friday between 9 and 5pm – just ring the doorbell on arrival
