About this course
This course will help you understand the dynamics of extraction across different brew methods (immersion and percolation) and begin exploring suitable brew recipes, with the ultimate aim of producing a better balance of flavours at home.
There will be plenty of time allocated for hands-on brewing using a range of both domestic and professional level equipment. Including the Aeropress, our favourite flat bottom and cone shape brewers, Fellow Stagg EKG kettles, and a Mahlkönig Omnia grinder. The reason for this is that we want to help close the gap between professional baristas and coffee enthusiasts and prove that once and for all, you can brew as good as we do!
This will be an amazing opportunity to make use of your time with John, our dedicated trainer, who is responsible for teaching our wonderful wholesale customers, including many of the best specialty coffee shops and restaurants in Yorkshire. Each attendee will receive tailored feedback and guidance regarding their practical skills. Not to mention, you will also be given access to a host of resources and receive a 250g bag of coffee following the course, enabling you to put your new skills to the test right away!
When you book your place, you won’t need to do anything else; we will be in touch the week before your course is scheduled and confirm all the necessary details. The course will take place at our newest training facility, the North Star Coffee Hub, situated next door to our Coffee Shop & General Store on Leeds Dock (LS10 1PZ). Top tip: give yourself one less thing to worry about, book a table and treat yourself afterwards - nothing a brew won’t sort.
3 participants maximum.

Reviews
Signed up for the beginners coffee brewing course. I've been brewing for years as a hobby but love going back to the beginning, learning different methods and meeting those with far more knowledge than me.
The session was very intimate (only 3 of us which was by design I believe). John, who took the session, was extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions, even those going beyond "beginner" level.
A great experience and learned a bunch. Highly recommend if you're a beginner and want a safe, non-judgemental environment simply to learn how amazing coffee can be. Or if you have some experience and want to revisit the basics and explore more methods and styles.
Thanks John, and North Star Coffee.
