"Think fizzy peach sweets, violet, candied orange. It tastes a lot like being let loose in a sweet shop when you're a kid. So sweet, so good, it's so fruity and bright, but also delicate."

How Does The Coffee Perform In The Cup?

The aroma is sweet, floral and full of stone fruit.

In the cup, expect fizzy peach sweets, violet and candied orange alongside a syrupy body that keeps everything beautifully smooth. Bright and juicy without ever feeling overpowering, the sweet citrus finish lingers gently, making every sip feel fresh, expressive and full of character.

Why did we choose this coffee?

This coffee reminded us why Ethiopia has such a loyal following. It's one of those coffees that makes you stop, smile and wonder how something can taste so different, with layers of sweetness and florals that keep drawing you back for another sip.

It also introduced us to a way of sourcing Ethiopian coffee that feels far more transparent. By working directly with farmers, Ephtah can make sure more of the money reaches the people producing the coffee while continuing to invest in practical support that strengthens both quality and long-term opportunity.

Who produced this coffee?

This coffee was produced by smallholder farmers in Lalesa and exported by Ephtah Specialty Coffee.

Rather than relying on Ethiopia's traditional anonymous auction system, Ephtah works directly with producers, creating full traceability and making sure farmers are paid directly for the coffee they grow. That means we know exactly where this coffee has come from and can confidently support the people behind it.

Through the Ama Commitment programme, Ephtah also supports women coffee farmers with direct payments, pre-financing, agronomy training and practical investment, helping create greater financial independence and more opportunities to take part in leadership and decision-making within their communities.

Packaging

Are your coffee bags compostable?

Our 250g coffee bags are made using compostable materials designed to break down in a well-managed home compost setup.

Our 1kg bags are currently recyclable LDPE4 plastic while we continue testing larger compostable alternatives durable enough for wholesale and larger-format coffee storage.

What if I don’t have a compost bin?

You’re definitely not alone. You can return your used bags to either our Roastery or Coffee Shop and we’ll make sure they’re properly processed through our waste partners. We know there’s currently no perfect packaging solution, but we’re committed to continually improving the systems and materials we use.

Can the bags be re-used?

Definitely. The zip-lock seals make them useful for storing everything from coffee and grains to snacks, cables or the random drawer bits everyone seems to accumulate somehow.
