"Our Guat Washed is a gorgeous espresso option and the way I drink it the most - in flat whites. The maple syrup-y sweetness really complements the milk and the apple and raspberry balances really nicely for a smooth brew! "

How Does The Coffee Perform In The Cup?

The aroma is bright and inviting with crisp apple, ripe berries and delicate sugared almond. In the cup, green apple delivers a refreshing acidity before juicy red berries bring sweetness and a smooth almond finish ties everything together. Vibrant, clean and beautifully structured, it’s a coffee that keeps every sip feeling fresh whilst remaining wonderfully balanced.

Why did we choose this coffee?

We chose this coffee because it perfectly captures what we love about washed Guatemalan coffees. It has the clarity and brightness to encourage people to explore something new, whilst retaining the sweetness and balance that make it instantly approachable. It’s often the coffee we recommend when someone is ready to take their next step into specialty coffee.

Just as importantly, we’ve never stopped believing in the people behind it. Every visit to La Bolsa reminds us that great coffee doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from generations of care, thoughtful farming and a genuine commitment to improving life for the people who call the farm home.

Who produced this coffee?

The Vides family have been producing coffee at Finca La Bolsa since 1958, with the third generation now continuing that work. Nestled between two mountains in Huehuetenango, La Bolsa has become far more than a coffee farm. It provides education, healthcare and long-term opportunities for the local community whilst producing some of Guatemala’s most expressive washed coffees.
We’ve proudly partnered with Vides 58 since 2016 because their values mirror our own. Their commitment to people, the environment and exceptional coffee has made La Bolsa one of our longest-standing and most cherished sourcing relationships.

Packaging

Are your coffee bags compostable?

Our 250g coffee bags are made using compostable materials designed to break down in a well-managed home compost setup.

Our 1kg bags are currently recyclable LDPE4 plastic while we continue testing larger compostable alternatives durable enough for wholesale and larger-format coffee storage.

What if I don’t have a compost bin?

You’re definitely not alone. You can return your used bags to either our Roastery or Coffee Shop and we’ll make sure they’re properly processed through our waste partners. We know there’s currently no perfect packaging solution, but we’re committed to continually improving the systems and materials we use.

Can the bags be re-used?

Definitely. The zip-lock seals make them useful for storing everything from coffee and grains to snacks, cables or the random drawer bits everyone seems to accumulate somehow.
