We have purchased coffees through Falcon’s Blueprint initiative for 6 years now - this program was established in an effort to forge long-term relationships with producers, and help control and further improve existing coffee quality whilst maintaining full financial traceability. Participating producers (like Clever) deliver their cherry to a centralised warehouse in Jaén, a safe place where otherwise isolated and marginalised producers receive a fair price for their coffee above that of the market price. This is crucial in helping to prevent quality coffee from getting swallowed up by the commercial industry as well as increasing producer household income through access to quality premiums.
 
Clever Nerya has a small 1.5 hectare plot of land in Alto Ihuamaca which is close to the conservation area of San Ignacio and situated at an altitude of 1550 metres. Clever inherited the land from his father who had tended to the farm for 22 years and made the wise decision to let the land rest for 5 years before planting any new trees himself. Resting or ‘fallowing’ the ground has helped to replenish nutrients in the soil and reduced the number of pests on the farm, allowing Clever’s Geisha and Bourbon trees to bed in well and thrive.

Once his coffee has left the farm, it arrives at Falcon’s warehouse in Jaen where the quality is assessed and a fair price, often 30% more than that of the local market value, is paid. The Blueprint program has been pivotal in forging long-term relationships with producers like Clever, placing a real emphasis on improvements in coffee quality and increasing participant household income through access to these quality premiums.

This mouth watering lot has been processed using the natural method and has resulted in a complex, funky cup profile with distinctive notes of Rooibos tea, dried mango and red berries!

Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email to confirm it is being processed and then another one to let you know when it has been dispatched. We are currently operating with 3 working day lead time to process your order once you have placed it. We are offering free shipping for orders above £20

Local pickups take place from the Roastery on Tong Road. Please note our shutter doors will be down for security and temperature reasons but we are always in Monday-Friday between 9 and 5pm – just ring the doorbell on arrival
