This is a beautifully balanced, classic English Tea. Oil of Bergamot is used to infuse Ceylon Tea leaves from the Harrington Estate in Sri Lanka. This is a tea that is best served black but also works well with a splash of milk or a slice of lemon.
Location: The Harrington Estate, Sri Lanka
Brew Proportions: 3-4g of tea or 1 teaspoon to 250 mls of water
Brew Temperature: 100 degrees C
Infusion time: 3-5 minutes
The Harrington Estate in Sri Lanka has been producing Organic Tea since 2011, which has meant wildlife has flourished on the estate, with a particular increase in the bee population due to the fact that no pesticides and artificial fertilisers are being used. Only black tea is produced on the estate and it is a hugely popular tea due to it’s incredible flavour. The farm is relatively small, measuring only 40 hectares in size. The farm also houses 110 permanent employees all of who have their own garden which allows them to grow vegetables and chickens. There is also a school on the farm.
Once the tea is ready to leave the estate, it heads to Colombo where it is infused with natural bergamot oil which results in this incredibly distinctive tea.
