14:00 - 17:00
Venue: North Star Coffee Academy
3 Spaces Available
This three hour course is aimed at home brew coffee enthusiasts who want to learn how to work with different preferences, different coffees and all kinds of equipment. We want home coffee users to get the best of their brew, every time!
No previous experience is required. At the start of the session, we will ask how you brew from home to ensure that the content we cover is relevant to the equipment you have available. There will be more than enough time to reflect on each attendee’s (maximum of 4 people) brewing techniques and equipment use.
The session will start with a coffee cupping. This will demonstrate the effect that origin, process and roast degree have on the finished brew. We will explore the journey that coffee takes from seed to cup, and touch on the ethics of how we source our beans.
Next, we will move onto the principles of brewing, where we cover off the essential brewing ‘toolkit’. This includes coffee to water ratio, grinding, water quality and other key variables! Next you will be brewing and we will evaluate your practical skills. During this section we will further detail all of the necessary theory underpinning the art of brewing; then you’ll taste the results of what we’re talking about by direct comparison.
Finally, you will receive a bag of beans and a copy of our brewing material to take home with you! So, no need to worry about forgetting what you learn! Plus, you will have the chance to fire as many questions as you like at us during the session.
All courses take place at the North Star Coffee Academy based at Leeds Dock. We are very easily accessible by either foot (15 minutes from Leeds train station), bus, car (multi-storey car park available on site) or water taxi which goes directly to and from the train station every 20 minutes. There is also a Holiday Inn on site for courses lasting more than a day.
Once you have booked your place, we will be in touch with further details about your course. In the meantime, if you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
