This contemporary seasonal espresso blend is all about showcasing the very best coffees from the most recent harvests taking place throughout the year. With frequently changing components, it aims to promote seasonal coffees that are chosen for their interesting and fresh flavours.

Version 14 is incredibly sweet with hints of peach and mango – it is syrupy in mouthfeel. In milk, these aromas change to cherry and chocolate, think black forest gateau! An outstanding example of seasonal blend development maximising the potential of recent harvests.

Czar Street is made up of the following components:

60% Ethiopia Tadese Gemeda

Ethiopia is an origin known for exceptional coffees with arguably the most incredible array of aromas from any coffee producing country. Washed coffees usually come in around June with the naturals making an appearance as late as October. This coffee was particularly exciting for us as it is the first year of sourcing from this origin we can actually name the smallholder who produced the coffee thanks to recent changes in the law in Ethiopia which now allow for greater traceability.

Tadese Gemeda is a 55 year old coffee producer with 2.9 hectares of coffee interspersed with shade trees of Acacia in fertile red soil. He is married with 8 children who assist him in gathering in the harvest – this lot has been selectively picked and then dried on raised beds for 18 days before being taken to Addis Ababa to be prepared for export. When we first cupped it, we picked up the classic notes of blueberries and cream you come to expect from natural processed Ethiopian coffees – however, we have really found this to be a very balanced and versatile lot in comparison to those we have had previously which can be such fruit bombs that it limits the brew methods suitable. Tadese’s coffee was an immediate contender for our next seasonal blend thanks to this more balanced character which results in a really pleasant and sweet cup.

40% Brazil Fazenda Rainha da Paz

Marcelo Montanari, owner and manager of Fazenda Rainha da Paz in Minas Gerais, is one of our most valued producing partners thanks to both the amazing coffee he produces (which is the base to our house blend and also features as a single origin in our range) but also due to his innovative and holistic approach to coffee farming. Rainha da Paz is a carbon neutral farm thanks to the responsible growing techniques employed – Marcello has worked to angle the coffee trees to maximise their exposure to sunlight, there are also different varietals planted across the farm to ensure constant ripening and harvesting causing no bottle necks in the processing which all takes place on the farm. This lot is a Rubi varietal which derives from the Mundo Novo and Catuai varietals – it is known to be high yielding and resistant to disease with good sweetness and complexity in the cup. We think the profile perfectly represents what Brazilian coffees are best known for – plenty of chocolate, roasted nuts, lots of balance and good body giving structure and depth to blends.

This new crop landed with us this January and we are happy to say it is as consistent as ever, in this instance it really does partner perfectly with the characterful Ethiopian producing a well-structured espresso that turns to sweet black forest gateau in milk!

Delivery Details

We are happy to say we are now able to dispatch orders on a daily basis from Monday to Friday. If your order is received before midnight, it should go out to you the next day using the Royal Mail First Class or DPD next day courier service depending on the weight of the parcel. If you place an order over the weekend, it will be packed and dispatched when the Roastery re-opens on a Monday.

If you have selected the Local Pickup option, this should be ready in our customer collection point in the North Star Coffee Shop and General Store by 5pm the day after you have placed your order. Opening hours can be viewed here along with information on parking and location. Unfortunately we cannot deliver your order to a local customer for you to collect from.

Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email to confirm it is being processed and then another one to let you know when it has been dispatched/is ready to collect.
