Costa Rica is a small country nestled in the heart of Central America. It’s probably most famous as a nature retreat for wealthy Americans, favoured for its stable government and relative safety compared to its Central American neighbours.
Traditionally, coffee from Costa Rica was bulked and sold – however the higher production costs has made it impossible for the country to compete with neighbouring Nicaragua. Costa Rica has therefore turned it’s attentions to the production of high quality micro lots as part of an effort to justify the higher sales price.
One such example is this incredibly complex lot from Don Miguel which is situated in Tarrazu in the San Jose region of the Central Valley. This 8 hectare farm was originally purchased by Don Miguel back in 1980. When he passed away, the farm was inherited by his son, Jose Angel, who now runs it alongside his wife Jackeline.
Jose and Jackeline has a keen focus on quality and have recently planted some of the infamous ‘Geisha’ seeds which we hope to sample in a few years time. This lot has been processed naturally due to the higher sugar content of the cherries when they were harvested. As a result, the coffee has fantastic sweetness making it a great option for espresso based drinks.
We are happy to say we are now able to dispatch orders on a daily basis from Monday to Friday. If your order is received before midnight, it should go out to you the next day using the Royal Mail First Class or DPD next day courier service depending on the weight of the parcel. If you place an order over the weekend, it will be packed and dispatched when the Roastery re-opens on a Monday.
If you have selected the Local Pickup option, this should be ready in our customer collection point in the North Star Coffee Shop and General Store by 5pm the day after you have placed your order. Opening hours can be viewed here along with information on parking and location. Unfortunately we cannot deliver your order to a local customer for you to collect from.
Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email to confirm it is being processed and then another one to let you know when it has been dispatched/is ready to collect.
