Good morning fellow coffee lovers, a quick post today about what to expect on your next visit following the recent government guideline updates.

👉 Face coverings are now mandatory to enter the shop. This includes when ordering takeaways, when being taken to your table and whenever you are not in your seat eating or drinking. Exemptions due to health conditions continue to be exempt.

👉 We are now legally required to log details of customers, visitors and staff. You can ‘check in’ via the NHS QR code displayed at the front of the store on arrival, if you have the NHS COVID-19 app. If you do not have the app we have an internal QR code check in system available to use as an alternative.

We know it’s a change, we know it can be frustrating, we also know it has to be done. We are all playing by the same rules.

Please help us keep things as straightforward as possible in these far from straightforward times. We just want to serve you great coffee and food, maybe chat about the weather (at a distance 😉) and do our job as best we can!

It’s a dreary old day out there! Don’t we look all warm and cosy though? 🍂😌

We know there’s a lot of doom and gloom at the moment, particularly following yesterday’s announcements. It’s easy to feel down trodden and like there’s no let up for ours and many other industries, however, we’re putting our best foot forward this morning and making the most of it, for as long as we’re safely able we’ll be here serving up your morning coffee, your daily ritual, your little slice of normal, an afternoon hot chocolate or an indulgent slab of feel-good-brownie, (because why the hell not?) all with a welcome smile and a genuine happiness to see you.

I think it was the philosophical feline Garfield that famously said, “I hate Mondays”. Well that’s probably because he hadn’t been down to The Docks for our new French Toast!

Since it’s getting a bit fresher out there we thought we’d autumn it up a bit for you with Spiced Plum, Sugared Almonds, Skyr Yogurt and a delicate Orange Zest Custard.

We’ve even used @novabakehouse Sourdough so you can feel a little better about yourself when it doesn’t even touch the sides!

How about a Sunday morning curve ball with a post about decaf! We’ve noticed quite a few of you seem to be asking for decaf these days! Well no judgement here, none of that death before decaf nonsense!

We think we do decaf right here, the guys over at @northstarroast really care about their decaf customers, regularly changing the single origin of the decaf beans!

Space for bookings this afternoon (perfect decaf time) if you fancy coming down! Open 10 till 4 and kitchen till 3!

Lunch today has to be one of our house made sausage rolls with a big dollop of house chutney and a flat white to set you up for the afternoon!

Looking ahead to the weekend we’ve got plenty of availability for Sunday if you were thinking of joining us for brunch, Saturday is busy busy but we’ll do our best to fit you in if we can!

This is the final weekend you’ll be able to get our pancakes with Strawberry, Elderflower & Shortbread.. French Toast makes it’s welcome return next week 👏😍
